Which system is right for me?

This is a very difficult question to answer without knowing what your setup is, however here is a good overview.

The foot pedal you use will be largely based on the software you have, and the type of files you will be receiving. Quite often an organisation will have identified a specific manufacturer, and when every author is using the same recording device, it is normally recommended that the secretary uses the same manufacturers transcription kit.

Often though, different authors will have purchased different digital recorders and this could pose a problem, after all a secretary does not want a different transcription kit for each manufacturer.
